PBMI Awarded to Pro Pharma

The Pharmacy Benefit Management Institute is pleased to recognize Pro Pharma and the Coal Energy Coalition as joint winners of a 2009 PBMI Rx Benefit Innovation Award.

As part of its mission, PBMI's Rx Benefit Innovation Awards showcase creative, effective, and innovative solutions for providing drug benefit programs.

Quality Management intervention had a positive impact on the quality of physician prescribing in seven states that are among the highest utilizers of prescription drugs. At the same time, the initiative resulted in lowering drug trend for multiple Coalition companies, which demonstrates that improved quality leads to lower costs.

This is a model for how to successfully engage physicians in improving prescribing habit by providing clinically compelling and actionable information at the patient level.
